Saskatoon Berries
Saskatoon berries are native to North America and resemble a blueberry in size and texture, yet they are not as sweet and have a slight nut flavour. When baked or cooked, the nut flavour becomes more predominant. Saskatoon berries are known for being high in antioxidants and contain high levels of protein and fibre, more than other fruits. They are great to eat fresh, on top of pancakes or ice cream and wonderful in baking such as pies, tarts, muffins, etc.
